Department Activities 2012-2013

On behalf of the department of physics .we conducted seminars and competitions and Industrial Visits for the students.

The seminar was conducted with TAMIL NADU STATE COUNCIL FOR SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY, Chennai on 12 October 2012 on the topic UTILIZATION OF RENEWABLE ENERGY. It was a one full day event. Special lecture and competitions were held for the students. The special lecture was given by Dr.M.N.STALIN Assistant Professor, Department of Petrochemical Engineering, Anna University, Trichy

Resource person in his special lecturer in this era human being do not have a pure air to breathe and due to over population's deforestation gradually occurs, therefore Utilization of Renewable Energy takes place. He adviced to the students to plants a tree to protect our world and to lead a pleasant like without cutting trees a Utilization of Renewable Energy.

Finally Mr.R.Selvam , Assistant Professor of Physics , delivered vote of thanks

Department Activity 2013-2014

On behalf of the department of physics, we celebrated NATIONAL SCIENCE DAY on 28-FEB-2014. Due to this We have conducted competitions to the students like working models, paper presentation and seminar on ' RECENT TRENDS IN PHYSICS' it was presented by Dr.P. SENTHIL KUMAR, Assistant Professor , Dept of Physics from Jeyram College of Engineering & Technology, Thuraiyur.

Resource person in his special lecture explained what is nature of physics? The entire mankind is most directly linked to his environment. The direct role played by the surroundings, such as the trees, rocks, river, rain, wind, sunlight, to name a few, java become an integral part of human beings day life. All such things which we notice around us occurring naturally are defined as nature. The study of these natural phenomenon's, in a logical and systematic way forms the prime goal of science. Finally He issued certificates participants and prize winners.

Finally Mr.A.Robert Xavier , Assistant Professor of physics , delivered vote of thanks.

Activities 2014-2015

The Department of Physics , Srinivasan College of Arts and Science organized a one day seminar on INTRODUCTION ON BATTERY on 18.09.2014.

Shri. A. Srinivasan, Founder and Chairman, Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan Group of Institutions presided over the function. Dr. P.Sivakumar Ph.D, Associate Professor of Physics, Periyar EVR College, Trichy was a Resource person. Mr.M.Senthilkumar,Head, Department of Physics Welcomed the gathering. Dr.G.Vadivalagan Ph.D, Principal of SCAS, felicitated the gathering.

The resource person in his Lecture Explained the types of battery, Working of battery. He also Spoke industrial applications have unique power needs and the choice of battery is important. While consumer products demand high energy density to obtain slim and elegant designs, industry focuses on durability and reliability. Industrial batteries are commonly bulkier than those used in consumer products but achieve a longer service life. Batteries are electro-chemical devices that convert higher-level active materials into an alternate state during discharge. The speed of such transaction determines the load characteristics of a battery. Also referred to as concentration polarization, the nickel and lithium-based batteries are superior to lead-based batteries in reaction speed. This attribute reflects in good load characteristics. Discharge loads range from a low and steady current flow of a flashlight to intermittent high current bursts in a power tool, to sharp current pulses on digital communications equipment, laptops and cameras. In this paper we evaluate how the various battery chemistries perform in a given application.

Finally Mr.R.Selvam , Assistant Professor of Physics , delivered vote of thanks.
